Porcelain and Ceramic Crowns
At James Island Dental Associates we are utilizing Cerec technology which enables Dr. Thomas and Dr. Weir to make crowns in one day. Many times we are able to do this for you in one appointment which means not having to wear a temporary crown.Occasionally however, a tooth may require a crown restoration. This most commonly occurs if a tooth is cracked or has had a root canal. A cracked tooth needs to be addressed promptly to hopefully avoid excruciating pain, possible infection, gum surgery, or loss of the tooth. They can also be placed for aesthetic purposes to correct alignment or size problems. A crown can be made of several different materials, such as ceramic, zirconia/porcelain, porcelain to metal, and cast gold. Each material has its own specifications for placement which, as your dentist, we will help you decide.
This process also eliminates goopy impressions! Let Dr. Weir or Dr. Thomas consult with you to answer any questions you may have concerning crowns. We have provided a video demonstration of this wonderful technology.
What People Say
This visit was awesome. (Sorry for delay in responding to the survey!) I'm normally a big baby when it comes to even cleanings, but the hygienist set me at ease. One of the best dental appointments I've had--and that's saying a LOT.
